Back MAC.... to the Future!

IKEonic

John McCain harkens back to a different era in America.  Cue "Mr. Sandman" and let's take a trip back in time to good ole 1955.  A time when America was safe and sound because the White House was occupied by a humble, plain speaking citizen soldier from Kansas.  That man was Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Ike is back on the scene with a vengance and I'm not talking about the hurricane steaming across the Atlantic.

Reform.  Prosperity.  Peace.  Sound familiar?  It's not a coincidence that the McCain campaign is playing straight from Ike's playbook.

Want to know how Ike felt about the Great Society and the state of America under the Johnson administration?  Read this 1966 interview with Ike.  I think it will surprise many modern day conservatives to find out how wrong their perceptions are about General Ike.  Just as many conservatives were shocked to meet the real John McCain at the Saddleback Forum last month.

The media has led you to believe that both Eisenhower and McCain are liberal Republicans or RINOs.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  McCain, like Eisenhower, is often faulted for reaching out to the other side to find bipartisan solutions to America's most pressing problems.

I am often accused of being too bipartisan myself, thus my passionate support of McCain.  But at my core, my fundamental beliefs are one with McCain and Eisenhower -- a strong, unwavering belief that individuals are endowed by their Creator to make their own choices and live with the consequences of those choices.  That is what is means to be truly free and that is the principle this nation (and the Republican Party) was founded on.  The more we cede decision making to Washington D.C. and avoid any consequences for our individual actions, the more freedom we will lose until we have none at all.

For too long, the GOP has downplayed the importance of great Presidents like Teddy Roosevelt and Dwight D. Eisenhower.  We've let liberals try to claim them as their own.  Ike's granddaughter, Susan, has fallen under Obama's spell and is completely hypnotized.  The egghead celebrity, Adlai Obama, gave a moving speech last week.  Moving if you are a Victocrat who believes America sucks and only Obama can fix it.

Susan is wrong.  Her grandfather would never support Obama over John McCain.  McCain is the just the kind of President that Ike would have backed 110%.  McCain puts his country above all else... above party, above his home state, above his family, above everything.  McCain is a tireless reformer, unafraid to confront his own party if necessary when the cause is just.  Obama has shown none of these tendencies and is little better than a "Yes man" for the liberal base of his party.  Eisenhower and TR were unafraid to challenge the GOP to seek a better way and put aside partisanship to serve a higher cause.

If you agree with me, it's time for all good Americans to come to the aid of their country and Back Mac to the future, just as we all liked Ike in good ole 1955.

The struggle for the soul of America is happening on many fronts, and that's how we need to fight it. At Modern Conservative, we have a full-spectrum approach and a generational outlook. We're not just trying to win on a few issues, we're trying to move the entire country in the right direction. And we need your help to do it!

There are many activist networks, but AnyStreet goes much deeper. State, county, and precinct. Street by street in neighborhoods across America.

Activist teams are forming in areas across the country. Get connected. Get active. Changing America starts on your street!

Protests and rallies serve a purpose, and they sure are fun...but they can only do so much. Without policy initiatives and plans for implementation, all that great energy can go to waste.

Our think tank has got just the ticket, producing nationwide campaigns with achievable goals...for real results.

For too long, the left has had its way with our culture, suffusing it with propaganda, revisionism, and ugliness.

We need to do more than just complain. We need to offer resources, alternative choices, and alternative art communities... more

Everyone talks about the need for more unity in the conservative movement. Well, we're here to help!

Our calendar is for everyone. The entire conservative movement! Post your action items. Post your events. Take part in online action, or find out what is happening in your local area.

Along with our calendar, our other service to our friends throughout the movement is our directory. Imagine it: one place where you can find a listing for every organization, every blog, professionals and even candidates. That's what we're building. Search by issue, by region, by focus. Get plugged in to the entire conservative universe!

To help keep you informed, we provide several news services. Modcon Central and our other blogs provide news, commentary, and provocative essays. Our headlines are hand-selected from the most interesting stories of the day. And of course, we have a forum where you can comment on what we've posted or add your own topics!

We're working now, behind the scenes, on the ultimate weapon in the war of ideas. A resource like nothing else.

In order to finish this, and to keep our operations moving forward, we need your help.

Your donation today—large or small-keeps us fighting for the many causes we share!
