The source of the Ron Paul signs
By Christopher Cook
A few days ago, I made a short post about Ron Paul and where the money and energy behind his campaign is really coming from. It was kind of a quick thought-burst---a personal prerogative when one has a blog. It was speculative and, in its hasty birth, not even particularly well-written.
It was born out of the fact that there are all these Ron Paul signs around town here in Phoenix (and other cities, I have since learned) that look like they were made by angry anarchist kids smoking weed in the alley behind a bar where a punk band is playing. In other words, their militant, stenciled, black, white and red vibe REALLY did not seem like anything Republicans would do...and so I commented to that effect in this minor post.
Having been posted on FreeRepublic, this little question of mine generated a massive thread. Some of it was directed at me, but most of it is a war between the Paulites and the anti-Paulites. In fact, the thread was still going 36 hours after the original post, showing just how much passion this subject elicits.
Granted, some of Paul's supporters are Republicans, though most of them would fall into the category of hardcore paleocons, it seems.
He draws support from the anti-war left, and from the tiny (again, isolationist paleocon) anti-war right.
Apparently, he also draws support from a disgusting confluence of "Neo-Nazis, White Supremacists, Holocaust Deniers, 9/11 “Truthers” and other paranoid and discredited conspiracists." (You will know them by the company they keep.)
Ron Paul has bugged me from the beginning, as he has bugged many people. The mystery of those red and black signs was really bothering me too...because of their appearance, and because it takes time and energy to put them up. Where is that energy coming from? Where is the money coming from? I posed this question to the Freepers, and I think some of them may possibly have provided the answer:

Look at the sign in the background in the first picture, over the Asian woman's head. See the font in "Revolution"? See the black and red?
That's it.
That's the font, color, and and style. Does this mean that the signs are being made and distributed by 9/11 truthers? There are truthers in the picture, and they're right in front of the Ron Paul booth and sign. Correlation is not always causation, but...well...I am not sure what to say. There's no proof here, but I strongly suspect that those signs are NOT being made by Republicans.
If it is the truthers, it would explain the style, and it would answer where the energy is coming from: Like re-animated zombies, these "truthers" are electrified by the fury of their own hatred of real truth and goodness.
It would not explain where the money is coming from, though perhaps there is data on that of which I am currently unaware. (That said, I'm sure these truthers can probably survive on less money than normal people, by living in squalid collective flop-houses and subsisting on nicotine, ramen noodles, and ganja. Did I mention that I HATE 9/11 truthers?)
Oh, and take a look at that first picture again. Notice that the 2nd through 5th letters are turned around to emphasize that, spelled backwards, they spell "love"?
Remember---when the devil comes, he won't be candy-apple red, carrying a pitchfork, and screaming "evil...eeeeeeeviiiil."
He'll come in a pleasing package, and he'll talk about nice things like love and puppies. And then he'll go on to tell you about how 9/11 was an inside job.
