Ron Paul, get out of the Republican Party.
Leave. Just go. Mr. Paul, you are NOT a Republican. You may have views that intersect with some aspects of the Republican platform. That does NOT make you a Republican.
The Republican Party is a big tent movement. We don't apply nearly the same strictness when it comes to tests of ideological purity as the Democrats do, but we still have some standards. And you, sir, do not even come close to meeting them.
People who blame America for the acts of war made against it are not Republicans.
People who think that we blew up our own buildings on 9/11...or who hint that we might have...or who attract the support of people with such beliefs...are not Republicans.
People who may be receiving secret funding from George Soros...and who certainly receive energy and succor from radical leftists...are not Republicans.
People who have become the darling of, and the recipient of support from, America's neo-Nazis and white supremacists---and who refuse to openly repudiate that support---are not Republicans.
And people who publish racist, anti-Semitic, and anti-American newsletters...are not Republicans.
Oh, and your protestations of innocence regarding this racist, anti-Semitic, anti-American newsletter to which you attached your name are absurd. As Jonah Goldberg said yesterday on the Michael Medved show, if it had been one or two issues, and then you closed down the newsletter, that would be acceptable. Letting it go on for two decades is not.
I recently heard Dennis Prager say that the Talmud holds that "silence is agreement." Your silence speaks volumes, Mr. Paul. You own these newsletters. And your blame-America-first, SorosBot, neo-Nazi, MoveOn, 9/11 truther, anti-Israel, angry slathering supporters...you own them too.
You have also attracted the support of some very decent Americans who just want to see smaller government. Set them free! Show them your newsletters, sir, so that they can decide whether they want to pay the high price for your particular brand of "smaller government."
You might call yourself a Republican. The left might take particular glee in the fact that you do, as it helps them to continue to project their own years of racism onto the GOP. You may have stuck an R after your name. But that does not mean that you are one of us.
David Duke put an R after his name too. Republicans, including people like Pat Robertson, soon made it clear to him that he was not welcome. Our tent is big, but it was not big enough for the likes of Duke.
Our tent is as big today as it was then, but it is not big enough for you, Mr. Paul, and so we say to you what we said to Duke...
Get out.

Bravo!!! Now if RP would only listen.

Spot on!
Why, if Paul didn't write these articles published in his name, and the 'ghost writer' was fired, wasn't there a single retraction, correction, or disavowment in a later news letter? Why were they all written in first person, why do some have his signature, and why are some side by side with messages from Carol Paul?

It's "Modern Conservatives" aka Neo-Cons like Christopher Cook that are the reason the Republican Party is going the way of the Whig Party. They have been driving the party into the ground since backstabbing Robert Taft (Mr. Republican) years ago and now they're doing the same garbage to Ron, Paul, the successor of Robert Taft.

10th amendment = racism. I've been hearing that nonsense long before Ron Paul, I'm just surprised to see Republicans playing into that old tired line.
Well, considering front runners like anti-gun Romney, anti-freespeech McCain, and "tax hike Mike" maybe I shouldn't be so surprised...

Yes, and take all of those nutjobs who are voting for you and their contributions with you. We don't need you, your money, your libertarian ideas, or your votes. We can win without you, just like we did in 1992.

To Jeff:
To libertarians and small-government conservatives, PLEASE STAY, and help fix the aspects of the GOP that are not working. Your ideas are welcome. The fact that Ron Paul is your only hope right now is a sad thing. Together, as a part of the GOP, we can do better for fiscal conservatism! To the racists, anti-Semites, neo-Nazis, radical SorosBot moles pretending to be Republicans, and 9/11 truthers who are the other part of Paul's supporters: GET OUT, and don't let the big tent-flap hit you on the way out.
Here's the deal... In politics, parties are beholden, to the degree possible in a representative democracy, to their constituents. As a Republican, I don't want the party to be beholden to neo-Nazis. There are plenty of other people to whom we can spread a message of fiscal, social, and national-security conservatism who can become constituents. If refining our message and our methods for delivering it is the price we must pay for the loss of some thousands of neo-Nazis, conspiracy theorists, and cranks, then it's an excellent trade.

Christopher,
Do you honestly believe that the Paul-bots feel welcome or even understood by the Repuglican Party? After the ad hominem attacks, slanderous assertions, even threats to our lives, most are pleading with Dr. Paul to abandon the party just as they've abandoned us.
I've voted virtually straight Republican tickets for over 40 years. I've never felt so despondent about the party as I do now. Never has the party been so far from traditional conservative thought than with the current crop of candidates. There is no reason (perhaps other than Dr. Paul) to support a party that is betraying its base, shrinking its tent, and attacking some of its most loyal supporters.
If that makes me a "crank," then so be it, but I refuse to vote for a pro-abortion, pro-gun control, pro-deficit spending, pro-big government candidate just because he has an R- after his name.

Ron Paul should leave the RP the very same day Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, and John McCain do.
Not one second before.

Don't worry...we're leaving. Your precious bigger, more intrusive government will still be there for you...getting bigger and even more intrusive. You won't have us or our pesky votes to bitch about that helped bring the gop to power in 1994. The funny part is that as bad and clueless as the dems are, those idiots are going to eat your lunch in november.

Ron Paul is more a Republican than the ex-Democrats like Kristol and Guiliani who now claim to be staunch Republican's, these are the ones who have abandoned the platform, Republican administrations have been no different to Democrats, the government continues to grow! many people are sick and tired and are leaving the Party; 2:1 votes in the Iowa caucus v. the dems, im afraid the GOP is in big trouble !!
Ron Paul stands for the traditional Republican platform, small government, low taxes, LESS spending and a non-intervention foreign policy. He is endorsed by Barry Goldwater Jnr who sure knows a conservative when he see's one!
Big spending, war mongering Neo-cons are the ones who are out of step with the Republican Party, not Ron Paul. infact, this 'movement' is bigger than Paul, like Goldwater before him, this will change the GOP who are heading for big defeats in the senate, house and whitehouse
The smears are not going to work
as for 'blaming America for 9/11 attacks' - Not true! He blames foreign policy over decades, bases in the middle east etc. this is confirmed by the 9/11 Commission Report, try reading it !!!!

Even though I disagree with the Ron Paul supporters, it's REALLY NICE to see them speaking intelligently, rather than threatening.

To all:
There are ways to solve the problems with the GOP and this nation that don't involve Ron Paul. Ron Paul has some good views, and some very questionable ones. Anger at the GOP + desire for change does not necessarily = Ron Paul. There are other options. So the current crop of Republicans is not good enough? So what? Work within the party to get better ones. If I want to see a movie, and there are no good movies to see at a particular theater, I don't go so a movie with serious flaws, just to make myself feel better. I work harder to find a better movie to watch. That's not a great analogy, but the hour is late and my brain is tired. I sympathize with some of the issues raised by the good-hearted R. Paul supporters. But Ron Paul is not the answer.

I am a lifelong Republican. And the attacks and the smears on Dr. Paul have turned me into an active enemy of the GOP. I will vote against any candidate the GOP nominates this year.
In the future, when the issue of hate crimes legislation is debated. I will smear any Republican candidate who speaks out against it. I will smear them with the same racist, homophobic, anti-Semite smear used against Dr. Paul. I will also actively post far and wide about any forum, blog or web site that opposes such legislation.
The GOP has become a police state, socialist party and the Democrats are now the nanny state, communist party. There is no hope and I leave the party with Dr. Paul.

Christopher, maybe, maybe not, the GOP will lose heavy this year if they have candidates backing the war, FACT! I guess they will learn from a generation of being in the wilderness... they will change slowly, the GOP establishment is so entrenched and married to this war that they cannot distance themselves from it so total defeat and possible collapse might get them thinking and 8 years of Democrat domination might make them wake up and return to their traditional platform

I support the Iraq War but that is over and Ron Paul's individual rights policy now takes priority for me.
If you think foreign policy needs to take priority forever because of the threat of nukes, read on:
Look up the IMBRA law on Google which forces Americans to be background checked before being allowed to say hello to women online.
You will see that Julie Annie, Romney and McCain are all in bed with the rad fems at the National Organization for Women (NOW).
This is the worst problem of the Neocons, not the Iraq War which is mostly over or will be when the next pres takes office.
I would bet that Modern Conservative publishers are "progressive types" who feel that radical feminism is a good thing.
Wrong answer. Radical feminism has gone way too far with laws like IMBRA and VAWA and the pendulum is going to have to swing back in the other direction or a lot of men will be voting for guys like Ron Paul who have voted against the above.
To the person who said "If you like Ron Paul, why not pick a less flawed candidate"...OK...who?
Fred Thompson might be OK but only if:
1) Fred condemns something about radical feminism in his campaign, mentioning the word feminism at least once before November. It probably will not happen.
2) Fred promises to fire everyone hired by the Bush Administration if he goes t the Oval Office next January.
There are about 200,000 men in the Men's Rights Movement (plus millions more if the media mentioned the issue) who are single issue voters on this point.

Ok, we get the message. As I go, let me tell you a little about myself. I have been a faithful Republican for 30+ years. I have been a precinct worker. I have been a vote watcher. I have attended and voted at precinct meetings. I have been deeply involved with the pro-life movement, having led protests and been a local spokesman to the media for the movement and the party.
I have watched with dismay as the Reagan revolution was hijacked by the present bunch of statist, "big government conservatives." I have watched the party transform to a "deficits don't matter" (Dick Cheney) bunch of wild spending irresponsible budget busters. I have watched as we have progressively extended our military involvement around the globe from one halfassed nation building project to another. I watched as the party of responsible evangelical activism has been hijacked by a bunch of pharisaical prudes. If this is what the party has become, then don't worry. I WON'T let the door hit me on the way out.
Lotsa luck with your stunted, deformed, pathetic "conservative" party. I guess you can blame Ron Paul when you get your a@@es handed to you next fall.

It's ridiculous to try to define what does or does not make one a Republican. It's just a political party. That's all it is. It's not an ideology. It's not a way of life. Both Democrats and Republicans rig the system so that only the two parties ever get any political power. Until that changes, you can expect to have folks outside of the main stream join either of the "power parties" just to give independents a chance at being represented. As it is, however, millions of Americans are not represented in this "democratic" government because the power parties won't allow it. Are you proud to exclude independents from representative government.
If you really want to define who is and is not a Republican, the solution is simple. Let third parties into the mix. Remove ballot access laws and campaign finance regulations (a.k.a. incumbent protection laws).
